*You are welcome to stay in other hotels in the Broomfield/Westminster area, but please check with us before booking, as the location may affect our ability to provide you transportation.
Our program will begin by us picking you in the evening (we will notify you of the exact time before your trip) at your hotel and taking you to Boulder to a very special and unique event: "Eduardo Strauch and Los Bohemios present: A celebration of Life, Art and Music". This is a true celebration of Life where you get to enjoy Art, Music and Eduardo's life inspiring survival story in the Andes!
During this event you will get to enjoy an audio-visual presentation by Eduardo about his experience in the Andes in 1972. You will get to enjoy an exhibition of Eduardo's paintings where you will see why he is getting so much recognition as a painter! There will also be a concert by Ricardo Peña's group 'Los Bohemios'. This night marks the Boulder release of their new self-titled CD. The cover of this CD is a painting made by Eduardo especially for this release. The concert will feature the songs on the CD, which are a collection of beautiful classic Latin American songs and a new song written by Ricardo Peña.
The event will take place at Shine Restaurant and Gathering place in Boulder. The event should last about 3 hours though you can stay a bit later if you enjoy dancing, as Ricardo's band will play a dance set after a break for Eduardo and Los Bohemios to sign books and CD's.
Participants will have VIP access during this event with their ticket fee included, a complimentary drink and the best tables reserved.
Day 2: Saturday, August 10
Eduardo and Ricardo will pick you up from your hotel at 9:30 am and bring you to Downtown Denver. We will do a walking tour of Denver's famous 16th street mall, the state capitol, and the civic center park. We will enjoy lunch in one of the many restaurants along the mall and in the afternoon enjoy the Art Museum and/or the History museum. Later that evening, Eduardo and Ricardo will give a special presentation in Broomfield featuring rare photos, historic artifacts from the crash site and many fascinating details about the Andes Survivors story that are not described in any of the books or documentaries. This is a very exclusive gourmet dinner-event offered only to you, the participants of this program!
Day 3: Sunday, August 11
Today we visit Rocky Mountain National Park! We will drive up Trail Ridge Road, the highest continuous paved road in the United States, to an altitude of 12,183', almost the exact altitude where Eduardo survived 72 days in the Andes. We will enjoy spectacular mountain scenery, a little taste of what is like to be at these high altitudes ( though our stay will be brief and comfortable since you will by then have enjoyed two days of acclimatization sleeping in Denver ('the mile high city') and listen to Eduardo's stories at this fitting location. You will see spectacular mountains, rivers, lakes, snow fields (yes! In August!), alpine tundra, beautiful forests and wildlife! Most of the tour will be in the comfort of our cars though we will have a chance to walk a bit at high altitude.
Later in the evening as we make our way back to Broomfield we will visit Boulder and have dinner in this beautiful and colorful town.
Day 4: Monday, August 12
Participants have the option of flying back home on this day or staying for this Mountain hike extension day. You can join Eduardo and Ricardo on a hike in the beautiful Rocky Mountains that will be about 6 miles long round trip and involve an elevation gain of 1500 to 3000 vertical feet depending on the fitness and preference of the group.
We will enjoy one last dinner together and celebrate Eduardo's birthday and the end of our Colorado Experience together!
Day 5: Tuesday, August 13
Participants fly/drive back home. We can provide transportation to the airport on this day.
End of itinerary.
